Job Description:
The Certified Scrub Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe, sterile setup and handling of all surgical instrumentation for both scheduled and emergency procedures. This role includes gathering all necessary instruments and supplies as outlined on surgeon pick sheets. The technician must demonstrate strong attention to detail, maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, and support smooth workflow in the operating room. The position also involves clerical duties, pressure assignments, and other responsibilities as directed. A high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, and values is essential.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare sterile fields and set up surgical instrumentation and equipment for procedures.
• Gather required instruments and supplies according to surgeon pick sheets.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating needs and maintaining sterile technique.
• Handle surgical instruments, equipment, and specimens appropriately.
• Perform accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps per facility policy.
• Support OR staff with clerical tasks and additional assignments as needed.
• Communicate effectively with OR personnel, medical staff, and vendor representatives.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant operating room environment.

 
Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Possesses a current ORT certification (Certified Surgical Technologist).
• Current operating room (OR) experience required.
• BCLS certification required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to function under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
