We have Contract role Epidemiologist-Hybrid for our client at Nashville, TN. Please let me know if you or any of your friends would be interested in this position.
Position Details:
Epidemiologist-Hybrid- Nashville, TN
Location : Nashville, TN (Hybrid – TN residents only)
Project Duration : 12+ months contract
Pay Rate : $36/hr. to $38/hr. on W2
Screening Questions for the Role:
• Do you have at least 2 years of experience in public health analytics or epidemiology?
• Do you have hands-on experience with data analysis tools such as R, SAS, Stata, Python, or Tableau?
• Do you have experience working with SQL and relational databases?
• Have you worked with healthcare, prescription monitoring, overdose surveillance, hospital discharge, or public health datasets?
• Do you have experience linking datasets and creating dashboards or reports for stakeholders?
About the Role
• This position is with the Office of Informatics & Analytics (OIA) within the Tennessee Department of Health.
• The Epidemiologist will support overdose prevention and public health surveillance efforts by analyzing prescription and healthcare data.
• The role will primarily focus on supporting Tennessee’s Controlled Substance Monitoring Database (CSMD) and Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP).
• The candidate will work with prescription data, hospital discharge data, and vital statistics data to identify trends, risk factors, and actionable public health insights.
• The role also includes developing dashboards, reports, and visualization products for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze and interpret prescription drug and overdose-related datasets
• Perform statistical analysis to identify trends, hotspots, and risk factors
• Create dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using analytical tools
• Support evaluations of overdose prevention programs and interventions
• Collaborate with public health teams, healthcare providers, and external stakeholders
• Ensure data quality, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and data governance policies
• Assist with provider education materials, presentations, and public health reporting
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field
• Minimum 2 years of experience in public health analytics or epidemiology
• Experience with R, SAS, Stata, Python, Tableau, or similar analytical tools
• Strong SQL and database experience
• Experience working with healthcare or public health datasets
• Ability to communicate complex data findings to non-technical audiences
