RN PACU- Tuba City, AZ
Location                           : Tuba City, AZ 86045
Duration                          : 13 weeks
Shift                                    : Monday - Friday 10hr shifts - 4 days a week,
 
Job Description:
The PACU Registered Nurse provides high-quality, compassionate care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical, interventional, and diagnostic procedures. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, rapid decision-making, and the ability to respond effectively to changing patient conditions in a fast-paced environment.
 
Responsibilities :

• Receive patients from the OR and perform immediate post-anesthesia assessments (airway, breathing, circulation, level of consciousness).
• Continuously monitor vital signs, pain level, neuro status, and surgical sites/drains.
• Identify and respond to post-anesthesia complications such as airway obstruction, hemodynamic instability, nausea/vomiting, or delayed emergence.
• Administer medications including analgesics, antiemetics, IV fluids, and emergency drugs per provider orders and facility protocols.
• Manage airway devices (oral airways, nasal trumpets, laryngeal masks, endotracheal tubes) as needed.
• Provide safe and effective pain management, including multimodal strategies.
• Assist anesthesia and surgical teams with procedures or interventions.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Follow safety protocols related to anesthesia recovery, infection control, and medication administration.
• Participate in patient handoff communication using standardized tools (e.g., SBAR).
• Educate patients and families regarding post-operative expectations, discharge instructions, and recovery processes.
• Provide emotional support and ensure patient comfort during recovery.

 
Requirements :

• Current RN license in state of practice.
• BLS and ACLS required (PALS often required for facilities caring for pediatric patients).
• Minimum 1–2 years of acute care experience; prior critical care, ER, or PACU experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and rapid-response skills.
• Ability to operate monitors, infusion pumps, and airway management equipment.
