Community Engagement Consultant-Atlanta GA
Location : Atlanta, Georgia - 30303
Project Duration : 09+ Months Contract
Pay Rate : $30/hr. on W2
General Description and Classification Standards
- Leads efforts to organize, plan, and execute overall functions and day-to-day operations relating to community affairs and public relations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and executing community engagement strategies and associated tasks, but are not limited to: supervising volunteers; providing administrative support; organizing and coordinating special events; developing outreach opportunities; attending select meetings; and processing associated paperwork and constituent follow ups.
Supervision Received
- Works under very general supervision and independently with responsibility for assigned tasks, functions or programming.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- These are typical responsibilities for this position and may perform other duties as assigned:
- Serves as liaison to senior citizen community, business, religious, community and civic groups for continuous positive public relations.
- Reviews complaints, identifies trends and discusses plans of correction.
- Responds to questions, complaints, and requests for information by telephone, in person or by mail from citizens, city employees and department heads.
- Speaks to community, civic, religious, business, and professional groups to provide information and positive public relations concerning activities and initiatives of the department.
Decision Making
- Uses independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations, working collaboratively with department leadership.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list:
- Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities associated with city government and department operations
- Skill in effectively communicating and interacting with team members, supervisors, and other staff/volunteers. Ability to perform duties under a moderate degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention to details and tight deadlines; and ability to read and comprehend management reports.
- Ability to use various software to create reports, briefings, data trends, and other reporting and analysis as needed
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business and public administration or a related field. 6-7 years of experience in community-based interaction and program management and a minimum of 3 - 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience is required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job.
