Location                         : Arcata, CA 95518
Project Duration        :  13 weeks
Pay Rate                         : $45/hr - $48/hr
Shift                                  : 7 days on, 7 days off
 
Job Description:
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) / Medical Technologist to join our clients laboratory team. The ideal candidate will perform a wide range of laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of patients while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards.
 
Mandatory Requirement

• Current and valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License — REQUIRED

 
Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex clinical laboratory testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Analyze and interpret test results with accuracy, precision, and timeliness.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, state regulations, and lab safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation, quality control logs, and patient records.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and laboratory staff to support patient care.
• Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
• Assist in training new staff and maintaining workflow efficiency.

 
Qualifications

• Current California CLS License — REQUIRED
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
• ASCP certification preferred (but not always required, depending on facility).
• Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred (new grads may be considered).
• Strong knowledge of laboratory methodologies, instrumentation, and quality control.
• Ability to work independently and manage high workload with accuracy.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

 
Specialty Experience Preferred (Based on Lab Need)

• Hematology

• Microbiology
• Immunology
