Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Labor & Delivery RN provides compassionate, high-quality care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum period. The RN ensures patient safety, supports family-centered care, and collaborates with the healthcare team to promote positive outcomes for both mother and baby.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and monitoring for patients during labor, delivery, and recovery.
- Administer medications and assist with epidural procedures.
- Monitor fetal heart tones, contractions, and vital signs.
- Assist physicians and midwives during deliveries, including C-sections.
- Educate and support patients and families on the childbirth process and newborn care.
- Document patient care accurately and timely in the EMR system.
- Respond promptly to obstetric emergencies and follow hospital protocols.
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) Compact License.
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required.
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient advocacy skills.
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred (e.g., Epic).
