Job Summary
The Med Surg / Telemetry RN is responsible for the delivery of age-specific, direct patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. The RN provides comprehensive nursing care within the framework of the Department of Nursing Standards of Patient Care and Specialty-Specific Standards. This role includes clinical leadership responsibilities, delegation of tasks to appropriate personnel, and strict compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and healthcare policies.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-appropriate patient care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuous cardiac monitoring
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and facility protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Assume leadership responsibilities, including delegation and supervision of LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, Department of Nursing Standards, and Specialty-Specific Standards of Care
• Ensure adherence to all applicable State and Federal regulations governing healthcare delivery

 
Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN)
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent Med Surg and/or Telemetry experience (travel experience preferred, if applicable)
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
• Proficiency in electronic medical records

 
Certifications (Required)

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Active prior to contract start
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Active prior to contract start
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – Active prior to contract start
