Job Description:
 
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide safe, high-quality care on a busy acute care unit. The RN will work 12hour day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a typical patient assignment of 1:5.
 
Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive nursing care for a diverse patient population, utilizing the nursing process and appropriate clinical judgment.
• Develop and update individualized patient care plans based on nursing assessment and nursing diagnosis, incorporating provider orders and interdisciplinary input.
• Provide direct bedside care, including medication administration, treatments, and routine procedures, while monitoring patient status and responding promptly to changes in condition.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, ancillary staff, and the broader healthcare team to coordinate care and maintain standards of professional nursing practice.
• Provide leadership at the bedside by serving as a clinical resource, delegating appropriately to support staff, and helping to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge plans to promote understanding, safety, and ongoing self-care.
• Deliver age-appropriate care across the lifespan, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, in accordance with unit policies and competency requirements.
• Document assessments, interventions, responses to care, and patient education accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards, and participate in performance improvement activities as requested.

 
Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Minimum of 6 months recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience required.
• Current BLS certification; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) may be required per unit or facility policy.
• Strong clinical assessment skills, ability to manage a 1:5 patient ratio safely, and effective communication and teamwork skills.
