We have Contract role Public Health Nursing Consultant 1-Hybrid for our client at Nashville, TN. Please let me know if you or any of your friends would be interested in this position.
Position Details:
Public Health Nursing Consultant 1-Hybrid-Nashville TN
Location : Nashville, TN 37243 (Hybrid – TN residents only)
Project Duration : 12 months contract
Pay Rate : $36/hr. on W2
Screening Questions for the Role:
• Do you have clinical experience in Neonatology/NICU?
• Do you have experience reviewing and abstracting medical records?
• Do you have experience working with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) cases or surveillance programs?
• Are you comfortable working with REDCap, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office products?
• Are you a Tennessee resident and comfortable with a hybrid role requiring in-office visits to Nashville 1–2 times per month?
About the Role
• This position is with the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Surveillance Program within the Family Health and Wellness Division at the Tennessee Department of Health.
• The Public Health Nursing Consultant 1 will serve as a subject matter expert on Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome.
• The role will mainly focus on reviewing, verifying, and abstracting infant and maternal medical records.
• The candidate will work closely with the NAS Surveillance Team and program epidemiologists to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
• This is a hybrid role with remote flexibility and required in-office days at the Nashville Central Office.
Key Responsibilities
• Review and abstract electronic medical records for NAS surveillance
• Request, review, and collate infant and maternal medical records
• Conduct case verification for NAS diagnoses using medical records
• Perform data entry and maintain records in RED Cap
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and data confidentiality at all times
• Work closely with medical records offices and internal surveillance teams
• Submit referrals to social services when appropriate
• Attend weekly team meetings and complete assignments with minimal supervision
• Support ongoing public health and CYSHCN program initiatives and strategic projects
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Clinical experience in Neonatology/NICU required
• Knowledge or experience with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome preferred
• Medical record abstraction experience preferred
• Familiarity with RED Cap, SharePoint, and MS Office preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable working with electronic medical records and healthcare data systems
