Job Summary:
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) provides rapid, skilled nursing care to patients experiencing acute illness or injury in a fast-paced emergency setting. The RN is responsible for triaging patients, performing assessments, administering treatments and medications, collaborating with physicians and care teams, and monitoring patient progress to ensure safe and effective outcomes. This role requires strong clinical judgment, prioritization skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
• Perform rapid patient triage to prioritize care based on severity of condition
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency treatments per physician orders
• Monitor patient status and respond quickly to changes in condition
• Assist with emergency procedures and trauma interventions
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop care plans
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
• Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols
• Provide compassionate care in high-stress, fast-paced situations
• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests and procedures
• Operate and monitor emergency medical equipment
Education & Experience: • Diploma in Nursing or Associate/Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN/BSN) required
• Prior Registered Nurse experience in ICU or Medical/Surgical setting required
• Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license required
• Current CPR certification required
• Additional specialty certifications may be required based on department assignment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with lifting up to 100 pounds (may vary by department)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
