Position Description:
Summary:
- Protects, promotes and restores health and wellness by practicing at the highest level of the Registered Nurse licensure; collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary care team members to provide care coordination across the continuum. Assesses and supports physical symptoms, provides psychological support to patients, friends, and families, mentors assigned team members, promotes best practices, and maintains professional disposition at all times.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- The Registered Nurse is accountable for the following key responsibilities, working within the highest scope of licensure:
Patient Care and Leadership - Provide quality, competent care, following best practice standards to achieve care goals and quality outcomes, consistent with the standards of care set by the state board of nursing.
- Provide effective leadership in the delivery of quality nursing care by assessing, planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions, and collaborating with the patient to implement their plan of care.
- Act autonomously as a vital component of the care team while appropriately delegating responsibility to team members based on their skill level.
- Function as an advocate for patients and their caregivers to positively influence value-driven and effective nursing care.
- Create a compassionate, service-oriented environment by applying the nursing process to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and caregivers.
- Documentation, Education, and Safety
- Maintain the confidential status of medical records and ensure documentation standards are met with accurate, timely, and complete recording and reporting.
- Promote a learning atmosphere by sharing knowledge with coworkers, orienting new staff, and educating patients and their families to meet their health needs.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and comply with all policies, procedures, and protocols designed to protect patients and Mission Partners.
Quality and Professional Development - Participate in quality and process improvements to attain clinical excellence.
- Promote financial stewardship by assisting with cost reduction without sacrificing quality of care.
- Enhance professional growth and development by participating in and utilizing current evidence-based information and keeping abreast of state and national accreditation, regulatory, and safety standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge: Knowledge of basic nursing skills; knowledge and familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered.
- Skills/Abilities: Basic ability to communicate and comprehend; ability to measure and comprehend certain quantities.
- License/Certifications: Current Registered Nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing in appropriate state (Illinois or Michigan)
- Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS is required prior to start date of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: BSN
- Experience: Experience as an RN in a healthcare environment
- Other skills/knowledge: Electronic Medical Record and Microsoft application basic proficiency
