Position Details:
Pediatric Acute RN- Tuba City, AZ
Location                    : Tuba City, AZ 86045
Project Duration   : 13 weeks
Shift                            : 6-7 shifts per pay period (8:00-6:30 or 06:00-08:30)
 
Position Summary
The Pediatric Acute Care RN provides comprehensive, family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents with acute and complex medical conditions. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in a fast-paced pediatric environment while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality outcomes and a supportive experience for patients and families.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform detailed pediatric assessments, including growth, development, vital signs, and age-specific clinical needs.
• Administer medications safely, including weight-based dosing, titrations, and high-alert pediatric medications.
• Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes in condition, including participation in Rapid Response/Code situations.
• Provide care for patients with acute conditions such as respiratory distress, dehydration, infections, post-operative needs, chronic disease exacerbations, and trauma.
• Collaborate with pediatricians, specialists, respiratory therapists, child life services, and other healthcare professionals.
• Educate and support patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Perform and assist with procedures such as IV starts, blood draws, NG/OG tube care, wound care, and respiratory treatments.
• Document assessments, interventions, and care plans accurately in the EMR.
• Ensure a safe environment through adherence to infection control, safety guidelines, and pediatric-specific standards of care.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional needs of pediatric patients and their families.
• Participate in unit meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

 
Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association
• Complete Pediatric Trauma Care After Resuscitation (P-CAR) within 6 months of hire
• National Institutes of Health (NIH) – NIHSS - NIH Stroke Scale must be completed (within 6 months of hire)
