Job Description:
Department Description
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to individuals experiencing acute illness or injury. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients across all age groups in a fast-paced emergency setting while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid and accurate patient assessments, prioritizing care based on acuity
• Provide direct nursing care to emergency patients, including trauma, cardiac, medical, and behavioral health cases
• Initiate and manage IVs, administer medications, and monitor patient responses
• Assist with emergency procedures, resuscitation efforts, and trauma activations
• Utilize emergency equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and ventilators
• Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, charge nurses, and support staff in a high-pressure environment

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (state-specific or compact, as applicable)
• 3–5 years of recent Emergency Department (ER) experience
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• ACLS (AHA) certification required
• PALS and/or TNCC preferred (may be required depending on facility)
• Strong critical-thinking, multitasking, and communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
