Interim Director of Nursing - Long Term Care-  Plentywood, MT
Location                             : Plentywood, MT 59254
Duration                            : 16 Weeks Contract
Salary Range                   : $50 - $60 per hour
Shift Timing                     : Days

Job Summary
The Interim Director of Nursing (DON) provides temporary leadership and oversight of nursing services within a long-term care facility. This role ensures high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and operational stability during leadership transitions. The Interim DON collaborates with facility leadership to maintain clinical excellence, improve outcomes, and support nursing staff.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
• Oversee daily nursing operations to ensure delivery of high-quality resident care.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., CMS guidelines).
• Monitor and improve clinical outcomes, quality measures, and resident satisfaction.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning to maintain adequate coverage.
• Conduct audits, chart reviews, and quality assurance activities.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, and social services.
• Address resident, family, and staff concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Support survey readiness and lead responses to regulatory inspections.
• Mentor, coach, and evaluate nursing staff performance.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.
• Ensure proper documentation and adherence to infection control protocols.

 
Qualifications
Education:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.

Licensure:

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana or Compact State License.

Experience:

• Minimum 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience in long-term care or skilled nursing.
• Prior experience as Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing required.

Certifications:

• CPR/BLS required.
