Position Details:
PACU RN - Gunnison, CO
Location                             : Gunnison, CO 81230
Duration                            : 13 Weeks Contract
Salary Range                    : $50- $53/hr
Shift Timing                     : Three to four 10-hour shifts per week with call (1-2 days call per week and 1 weekend every 4 weeks)
 
Job Purpose & Position Overview
We are seeking a clinically competent and dedicated PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team. The PACU RN functions as a key member of the surgical team, delivering high-quality patient care throughout the pre-operative and post-operative phases. This role involves monitoring patient recovery, ensuring safety, and providing evidence-based nursing care in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Pre-Operative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Monitor and assess patients’ physiological responses following surgical procedures and anesthesia.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
• Continuously assess patient status and respond promptly to changes in condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and pain management interventions as prescribed.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.

 
Required Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific).
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in PACU, ICU, or critical care setting preferred.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification – required.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – required.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – preferred (if applicable).
