Position Details:
RN-ICU/PCU- Scottsbluff, NE
Location : Scottsbluff, NE 69361
Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : 3 12 hours shifts needed - It is both a day and night opening.
Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU/PCU provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to critically ill and high-acuity patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The RN utilizes the nursing process, clinical expertise, and interdisciplinary collaboration to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities :
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and progressive care patients
- Perform continuous patient assessments, including hemodynamic monitoring and neurological status
- Administer medications, IV drips, blood products, and treatments per physician orders and protocols
- Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment (e.g., ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps)
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, initiating emergency interventions as needed
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and care plans
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Maintain infection control, patient safety, and quality improvement standards
- Participate in unit-based committees, training, and continuing education
- Serve as a patient advocate and support ethical decision-making and end-of-life care when applicable
Requirements:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within required timeframe)
- BSN degree
- 1–2 years of ICU, PCU, or critical care experience
- CCRN or PCCN certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with ventilated patients and titratable IV drips
