Position Details:
RN PCU- Zanesville, OH
Location                           : Zanesville, OH 43701
Duration                          : 13 weeks
Shift                                    : Nights 7 PM – 7:30 AM
 
Job Description:
The PCU Registered Nurse provides direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients who require close monitoring but do not need full intensive care. PCU patients are often transitioning from the ICU or may be at risk for clinical deterioration. The RN uses critical thinking, advanced assessment skills, and teamwork to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, oxygen levels, and neurological status
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and blood products safely
• Manage patients with complex conditions such as cardiac, respiratory, or post-surgical issues
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records
• Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control procedures

 
Requirements :

• BLS and ACLS are both required.
• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three (3) years cardiac step-down experience, including heart cath recovery/cardiac drips/post-op open heart patients and other cardiac/med-surg step-down patients.
• RN will be required to float to other units in times of low volumes or coverage crisis, although this is not expected.
• The RN candidate MUST have experience with the following: Open-Heart, Vents, and Epic EMR.
