We have Contract role Surgical Tech for our client at Arcata, CA. Please let me know if you or any of your friends would be interested in this position.
 
Position Details:
Surgical Tech- Arcata, CA
Location                    : Arcata, CA 95518
Project Duration   : 13 weeks
Pay range                 : $30/hr - $36/hr  
Shift                            : Monday - Friday
 
Position Summary
The Surgical Technologist plays a key role within the perioperative team by preparing the operating room, ensuring the availability and sterility of surgical instruments, and assisting surgeons during procedures. This position requires strong knowledge of central processing, instrumentation, aseptic technique, and excellent critical-thinking abilities to support safe and efficient surgical care.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly set up and sterile.
• Assist surgeons by anticipating needs during procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field.
• Verify instrumentation for completeness, proper function, and sterility prior to each case.
• Collaborate with central processing to ensure timely, accurate availability of instrument sets.
• Follow all aseptic techniques, infection control protocols, and patient safety standards.
• Participate in surgical counts with the circulating nurse (sponges, sharps, instruments) according to policy.
• Handle and label specimens accurately and ensure proper documentation.
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and restocking between cases.
• Ensure all equipment is cleaned, maintained, and functioning properly; report issues promptly.
• Support onboarding and training of new staff and students as requested.
• Maintain current knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and evolving best practices.

 
Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• BLS certification required.
• CST certification preferred but not required.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Extensive knowledge of central processing, sterile technique, and surgical instrumentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment with diverse specialties.
