Job Summary
The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide variety of medical conditions and post-surgical needs. The RN delivers evidence-based, patient-centered care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation while collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify nursing diagnoses.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and treatments accurately and safely.
- Monitor, record, and report changes in patients’ conditions to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with wound care, dressing changes, catheterization, and other clinical procedures.
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgeries, and discharges.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and post-hospital care.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and patient care standards according to hospital policies.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote coordinated, quality care.
- Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
- Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana .
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required.
- PALS Required.
- Experience: Must have strong Med/Surg/Critical Care experience
