Radiologic Technologist- Clinton, IL
Location : Clinton, IL
Project Duration : 13 Weeks
Pay range : $45- $50/ Hour
Shift : Night shift (10:30pm - 7:00am), primarily Sunday through Thursday with occassional weekend and on-call rotation.
Job Description:
- The Radiologic Technologist will perform diagnostic imaging examinations (e.g., X-rays, fluoroscopy, computed tomography, MRI) to assist physicians in diagnosing patient conditions.
- The role requires technical expertise in operating imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, adhering to radiation protection standards, and maintaining image quality for accurate interpretation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and position patients correctly for imaging procedures; explain the procedure, ensure informed consent, and address patient concerns.
- Operate radiologic equipment (X-ray machines, CT scanners, MRI machines, fluoroscopy units) following manufacturer guidelines and institutional protocols.
- Ensure high-quality diagnostic images are produced; assess image quality and request retakes where necessary.
- Adhere to radiation safety practices (ALARA principle) for patients, staff, and self; use shielding and safety measures appropriately.
- Maintain detailed records of examinations, patient data, equipment usage logs, and radiation exposure as required by regulatory norms.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses and other clinical staff to review imaging requirements and assist in specialized procedures.
- Assist with contrast media administration (where applicable) under physician/technologist supervision and monitor patient for reaction.
- Maintain and ensure proper function of imaging equipment: perform routine checks, report malfunctions, and coordinate with service engineers for maintenance/calibration.
- Ensure the imaging department is stocked with required supplies (films, contrast media, cleaning consumables) and that cleaning/sterilization protocols are followed.
- Uphold patient confidentiality, follow HIPAA-type (or equivalent) privacy standards, and ensure correct patient identification for each imaging study.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, attend departmental meetings/training, and keep abreast of advances in imaging technology and radiologic practices.
- Performs diagnostic procedures requiring the use of equipment that produces ionizing radiation.
- Ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of human structure and function, as well as the knowledge and skills to identify each patient’s requirement relative to his or her age specific needs.
- Candidate must also be familiar with principles of patient care, radiographic exposure, radiation protection, and specialized technique as required for a radiologic technologist.
- CT experience preferred.
- Night shift (10:30pm - 7:00am), primarily Sunday through Thursday with occassional weekend and on-call rotation.
Qualification :
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiology program with Radiologic Technologist registration with the State of Illinois.
- BLS Certification and ARRT Certification required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more and may be exposed to communicable diseases.
- CT experience preferred.
