Shift                             : Day Shift 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
 
Position Summary
The Registered Dietitian (RD) provides comprehensive, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to outpatient populations and serves as a key nutrition resource for the Cancer Center. This role includes patient education, nutrition support, and follow-up care for oncology patients, including those with PEG tubes. The RD also participates in Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) programs to support patients in achieving optimal clinical outcomes.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for individuals with acute and chronic conditions.
• Deliver nutrition education as part of the Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) program.
• Serve as the Registered Dietitian for the Cancer Center, providing nutrition education, counseling, and ongoing support to oncology patients.
• Conduct nutrition assessments and follow-up for cancer patients with PEG tubes, ensuring appropriate enteral nutrition management and tolerance.
• Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans based on diagnosis, treatment plan, and patient needs.
• Monitor patient progress, adjust nutrition interventions, and document outcomes in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with oncologists, endocrinologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic diets, enteral feeding regimens, and symptom management related to treatment.
• Participate in care coordination, discharge planning, and follow-up care.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and evidence-based practice guidelines.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship or supervised practice program.

 
Licensure and Certification

• Current Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Active state licensure as required.
