Job Description:

• The Med-Surg RN provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients admitted to the medical-surgical unit.
• This includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, ensuring safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing practice.

 
Key Responsibilities :

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and document findings accurately.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs and physician orders.
• Administer medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, etc.), monitor responses, and manage IV fluids/infusions safely.
• Monitor patient vital signs, laboratory and diagnostic results; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Perform wound care, catheter care, drain management, and other clinical procedures as required.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, procedures, discharge planning and self-care.
• Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Document all nursing interventions, patient responses, and outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely and accurate manner.
• Adhere to infection control procedures, patient safety protocols, and fall and pressure-ulcer prevention programed.
• Assist in the orientation and mentoring of new staff, participate in quality improvement activities and unit meetings.
• Maintain compliance with hospital and unit policies, regulatory standards (e.g., JCI, NABH, or local accreditations), and nursing best practices.

 
Qualifications :

• Valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) licence in [State/Country].
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred (or Associate Degree in Nursing + plans to pursue BSN).
• Minimum of [X] years of experience in a medical-surgical setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Strong clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
