We have Contract role Laboratory Medical Technologist for our client at Morristown, VT. Please let me know if you or any of your friends would be interested in this position.
 
Position Details:
Laboratory Medical Technologist- Morristown, VT
Location                            : Morristown, VT 05661
Project Duration           : 14 Weeks    
Shift                                    : 3x12-hour shifts weekly: 2 evening shifts and 1 night shift weekly.
 
Job Summary

• Performs assigned analysis and reports results according to procedures and regulations of the department.
• Maintains quality control. Maintains equipment as per instructions and schedule.
• Correlates laboratory results with clinical findings through chart review and consultation with nursing and medical staff. Performs receptionist/phlebotomist tasks.
• Compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws, regulations, and policies governing the provision of health care.

 
Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, receive, prepare and process patient specimens — blood, urine, stool, tissue, other bodily fluids — following proper collection, handling and lab protocols.
• Perform a wide range of laboratory tests: hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology and other diagnostic procedures as required.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot lab instruments and equipment (automated analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges, etc.) to ensure proper functioning and accurate results.
• Prepare reagents, media, solutions as needed for tests (stains, culture media, etc.), and ensure proper sample preparation for microscopic or automated analysis.
• Analyze and interpret test results; record findings accurately; maintain lab records and enter data into the laboratory information system / patient record systems.
• Perform quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures to ensure reliability and accuracy of tests — including instrument QC, reagent QC, proficiency testing, preventive maintenance.
• Report test results promptly to physicians / healthcare providers, and communicate if further testing is needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and test data.
• Follow laboratory safety protocols, handle biological and hazardous materials safely, and ensure lab hygiene.
• Maintain lab inventory: manage supplies, reagents, order stock, ensure availability of consumables. In
• (Optionally) Train and mentor junior laboratory staff or new technologists; assist in supervising lab operations depending on seniority.

 
Qualifications / Skills Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology / Medical Laboratory Science / Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
• Certification from a recognised body (where applicable) or relevant accreditation/licensure as per local regulatory standards.
