OBU/L&D RN- Fort Defiance, AZ
Location                            : Fort Defiance, AZ 86504
Project Duration           : 13 weeks
Shift                                    : 3x12 hour shifts needed - day and night opening.
 
Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (OBU/L&D) provides comprehensive, compassionate care to women and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care during the birthing process and recovery period.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to patients during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being through physical assessment and fetal monitoring techniques.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments per physician orders and established protocols.
• Assist physicians and certified nurse-midwives during labor, delivery, and immediate newborn care.
• Perform and interpret fetal heart monitoring; identify and respond promptly to complications.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families regarding the birthing process, breastfeeding, and postpartum care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Ensure adherence to safety, infection control, and quality improvement protocols.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated patient care.

 
Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
• License: Current and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice.
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery, Obstetrics, or related specialty required. In some cases, additional experience may be required.

 
Certifications (Required):

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
