Project Duration          : 13 Weeks Contract
Shift                                    : Night shift
 
Job Summary
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides immediate, high-quality nursing care to patients with urgent, emergent, and life-threatening conditions. The ED RN triages patients, delivers rapid assessments, initiates critical interventions, and collaborates with providers and multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid assessment and triage using standardized acuity tools (e.g., ESI).
• Provide evidence-based emergency nursing care to stabilize acute medical, surgical, and trauma patients.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and emergency treatments safely and promptly.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and diagnostic results.
• Assist with or perform ED procedures including IV starts, wound care, splinting, catheterization, and EKGs.
• Respond to emergency codes (Code Blue, trauma alerts, STEMI alerts, stroke alerts).
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapy, radiology, and other team members for coordinated patient care.
• Document assessments, care provided, and patient responses accurately in the EHR.
• Provide education, emotional support, and communication to patients and families.
• Maintain adherence to infection control, patient safety, and ED protocols.
• Participate in debriefings, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives.

 
Qualifications

• • BSN preferred; ADN accepted.
• • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Vermont.
• • BLS – Required
  • ACLS – Required
  • PALS – Required or obtained within 6 months
  • TNCC, ENPC, or CEN – Preferred
• • 3-5 years of emergency or critical care experience required.
